Sustainability

Sustainability has always been at the core of everything we do. Based on that, we are proud to unveil our first Sustainability Report. This document brings together the way we manage, measure, and communicate our impacts, achievements, and challenges.

The Sustainability Report summarizes our company’s sustainability efforts and achievements during our fiscal year 2025-26, reflecting our commitment to reducing our environmental footprint while delivering exceptional Antarctic experiences.

The report highlights progress across five key areas: Operations, Guest Experience, Environmental Stewardship, Innovation, and Social Impact.

Environmental Stewardship

In the area of environmental stewardship, the report showcases initiatives aimed at reducing waste, improving resource efficiency, and lowering emissions across our operations. Highlights include:

  • 4,180 kg of local waste recycled
  • 8.7 tCO₂e avoided through our solar array
  • 105 days of continuous logistical autonomy
  • 1,400 kg of organic waste recovered
  • 50 liters of used cooking oil recovered and transformed into sustainable byproducts in partnership with Biokreikruk
  • 730 tons of waste processed and diverted from municipal landfills through regional recycling partnerships

We also consolidated our position as the first Antarctic operator in the world to use e-fuel, successfully completing two seasons in a row powering the fleet of 10 Zodiac boats aboard Magellan Explorer with this innovative alternative fuel.

Social Impact

On the social side, the report registered more than 17,000 historical beneficiaries through the Antarctica21 Foundation, 25.4% of total supplier spending directed to suppliers in the Magallanes Region, more than 3,000 hours of training delivered, and 35% of leadership roles filled by people who built their careers within Antarctica21.

Leadership Reflections

Valerie Kroneberg, Director of People & Corporate Affairs, said: “This Sustainability Report allows us to show all the measurable results of the work that has been happening across the company for years. Looking at everything that has been achieved makes the goals ahead feel more achievable and motivating.”

In the words of our CEO, Verónica Peragallo: "This is the beginning of a new chapter, one in which we will continue to learn, measure our impact, and raise our standards while meeting the responsibility of exploring one of the most extraordinary and sensitive places on the planet. For Antarctica21, beyond this report, sustainability is built every day by each member of our teams."

This report was prepared in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative’s Universal Standards (GRI) and incorporates indicators of the SASB Standards, applicable to the cruise industry.
